As a working ranch, we raise cattle for use in training our Quarter Horses for cattle work and for roping, cutting, and cow-horse events. Cattle can also be purchased for 4-H projects, pleasure, or for raising your own stock.

Gunstock Trails are now offering riding lessons! Lesson horses can be provided by Gunstock Ranch. Our lesson program is designed to teach basic Horsemanship, Riding basics, and trailriding. We have English or Western lessons and we can taylor any lesson to individual needs. Our lesson program is open to youth and adults 5yrs and up.

Our Instructor

Holly Fernandez - Holly was born and raised in Hawaii and has been involved with horses since she was 7 years old.She teaches both English and Western styles of riding and has competed professionally in Three Day Events and jumping.She's ridden everything from rope horses and polo ponies to dressage horses.She attended Equestrian college in the mainland and has had great success in buying horses off the track she lived near while in the Seattle area during the 1980's and retraining them fro hunter/jumper prospects. "I love to teach people the joy of riding and communing with nature and the wonderful world of horses." Holly.

Program Objective

To teach new riders the basic skills necessary to safely control their horses at the walk, trot, and eventually canter.
To teach riders safety techniques for mounting, dismounting, horse husbandry and handling.
To create a lasting understanding and respect for horses
To teach the basic skills necessary to prepare a student for horse ownership and/or care.

Lesson Rates:

Riding Lessons are purchased by "sessions". A "session" consists of four (4) lessons. A single "trial lesson" can be purchased if you would like to try our program once before enrolling. Helmets are available for use.

$65 for 1 hour - lesson horse included
$50 for 1 hour - using your own horse
Small Keiki Lessons - Lessons for children 5-7yrs of age available. Duration is shorter and catered to a younger developmental stage.
Group Lessons can be arranged. Please inquire with an instructor.

Gunstock Aquatics is located at Gunstock Ranch. We offer a large variety of American Red Cross Certification courses. CPR , First Aid, Lifeguard Training, Babysitters Training, Water Safety Instructor Training, and Swimming Lessons for all ages and swimming abilities starting at 6 months - 101. Going to be in a parade and need a good, dependable horse? Gunstock Ranch has provided horses for many parades on Oahu over the past 30 years. We can provide groups or individuals with dependable mounts. Parade packaging comes with practice sessions at our site, tack, horse grooming for parade, and hauling (delivery & pickup).
