The Sunset Dinner Horseback ride is a 2 – 2 1/2 hour guided horseback ride and dinner by campfire. This ride goes out in the cooler portion of the day and riders experience the beautiful Hawaiian sunset skies while on horseback. Guest will be taken to our highlight scenic lookout spot and enjoy the view and eat dinner around a campfire. This is a walking only ride and no trotting or cantering will be allowed. This is a great ride for the whole family. This ride is suitable for all skill levels ages 7 and up. No pregnant riders will be allowed. Our weight limit for any rider is 240 lbs.
This ride winds through mountain trails with occasional ocean views. The highlight spot is our scenic lookout which provides a great view of the Windward side of Oahu. This is a great picture taking spot so bring your camera. We work to keep our ride sizes small because we want our guest to feel like they have experienced a true Panel (Hawaiian Cowboy) horseback ride. Guests are likely to see wild pigs, cattle, and other horses roaming through our mountain trails.
Dinner will be warm and waiting for you at the campfire, when the weather allows. If the weather is too hard to let you enjoy dinner at the lookout, we will bring you back in and let you eat under the shelter of our covered pavillion.
Dinner consists of locally catered steak and shrimp, local fruit, rice, corn on the cob, smores, Ted’s Bakery pie, water, and Hawaiian Sun fruit drink. Guest are able to cook marshmellows over the campfire and enjoy the evening in a more relaxed setting. After dinner, your wrangler will help get you mounted back on your horse and guide you back home. You will be riding back under the light of dusk.
Please check in 20 min. before your ride time. Please plan ahead so you are not late. Our goal is to have every ride leaving 10 min. from ride time. Guests who are late are subject to being left behind. If you miss your ride because you are late no refund will be issued. We are located 2 miles North of the Polynesian Cultural Center, between the towns of Laie and Kahuku, Oahu. We are a 10 min. drive from Turtle Bay Resort.
We recommend that you wear long pants and covered shoes for this ride. Cowboy boots are not required. Wear sunscreen and bring a bottle of water. Small cameras are welcome. For chilly days it is a good idea to bring a light sweater or jacket. Backpacks, bags, and bulky camera equipment will not be allowed on the horse for the ride. We do have a small pack on the saddle that can fit a water bottle or small camera.
